Collegium Institute, in partnership with the Penn & Drexel Newman Center, invites current undergraduate and graduate students to register for the Fall 2026 Catholic Humanism Fellowship, Christ & the Common Good: On Faith and Politics.
Across six lunchtime seminar sessions, we will examine the relationship between belief and political engagement, particularly in light of Pope Leo XIV’s renewed emphasis on Catholic social teaching and the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States of America. How can one pursue the common good through modern political institutions? What is the relationship between divine and secular authority? How should the Church relate to political forces such as individualism, nationalism and internationalism? In pursuit of answers to these questions, we will engage with prominent thinkers such as such Pope John Paul II, Pope Benedict XVI, Dorothy Day, and Jacques Maritain.
Students who complete four semester-long modules of Catholic Humanism are eligible to receive Collegium Institute’s Certificate in Catholic Thought.
Dates: Friday afternoons, 12:45 pm to 1:45 pm. Lunch is provided for all participants.
