The Art of Dating

"There is nothing more truly artistic than to love." -Vincent Van Gogh

Love is the inspiration for some of humanity's most beautiful artistic works, from Shakespeare's sonnets to Casablanca. But what would it mean to say that romance itself is an art? Join Collegium Institute and the Thomistic Institute on Monday, April 13 for "The Art of Dating," a special event featuring Baylor Professor Michael P. Foley. Prof. Foley will discuss how to approach dating as a practice inspired by a love for the True, the Good, and the Beautiful, in order to build relationships of virtue and integrity. Drawing from theological sources and contemporary accounts, he will reflect on the modern and perennial challenges of looking for love.

Prof. Foley's remarks will be followed by an audience Q&A. There will be a reception and book signing at the end of the event.

Prof. Michael P. Foley is a Catholic theologian and  Professor of Patristics at Baylor University. His research focuses on the work of Saint Augustine and political philosophy. He received his PhD in Systematic Theology from Boston College. He is the author of a number of books for academic and general audiences, including the popular Drinking with the Saints series.
