Winged Ox Forum (Fall 2021)

Fall 2021 Event Banners (11) (1).png

The Collegium Institute presents the Winged Ox Forum, a new community of fellows devoted to exploring the relationship between the medical vocation and the Christian theological tradition. The Forum welcomes a small cohort of graduate students and resident physicians each semester to participate in six evening discussions over meals. The group fosters a community for friendly and professional encouragement, mentorship, sharing of research, and theological formation.

Some guiding questions include: What is health? How has the Christian tradition shaped modern medicine? How is the patient’s story connected to the narrative of scripture? How might we practice medicine in a way patterned on the life of Jesus, as a proclamation of the Gospel? Fellows are encouraged to draft goals for their medical career and to discuss their own theology of clinical practice.
