The Just Man Justices: A Seminar and Service Project

  • Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter & Paul Philadelphia, PA, 19103 United States (map)

Please join the Collegium Institute's Young Catholic Leaders Initiative as we launch our Student Ambassadors program with The Just Man Justices: A Seminar and Service Project on Wednesday, August 23rd at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter & Paul. This event marks the beginning of our seven-session monthly Student Ambassadors program on Living and Learning the Virtues, where students will learn about living the cardinal and theological virtues through museum visits and hikes, service projects and feasts.

On Wednesday, we will first have a training with the Christ in the City missionaries, who will explain their mission and how it relates to our theme of justice and virtues. Next, we will prepare food and serve, eat with, and converse with the homeless. Following lunch, we will have a seminar and breakout discussion exploring the virtue of justice in the soul and in society. Finally, there will be an opportunity for prayer in the Cathedral and we will reflect on the service project.

Schedule:

11:00am-12:00pm: Training with missionaries

12:00pm-1:00pm: Serving, eating, and conversing with the homeless

1:00pm-2:00pm: Seminar and breakout discussion on justice as a virtue

2:00pm-3:00pm: Prayer and reflection

This first Student Ambassadors event is open to all high school students, though space is limited. Subsequent Student Ambassadors events during the academic year will be limited to those who have applied to be a Student Ambassador.
