The Ethos of Finance: Spring 2023 Philosophy of Finance Fellowship

Collegium Institute invites you to apply for the Spring 2023 Philosophy of Finance Fellowship. This semester, we will explore various ways in which finance has supported or threatened the common good. We will take a look at the 2008 financial crisis and assess the extent to which epistemic vices (incompetence, financial illiteracy) were responsible, as opposed to greed, appetite, or risk. Other topics will include medieval debates on usury, perspectives on debt accumulation, and financial exclusion.

This fellowship will meet on the following Friday afternoons from 3-4pm:

  • January 27

  • February 10

  • February 24

  • March 17

  • March 31

  • April 14

This Fellowship is open to current undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Pennsylvania and Drexel University.

Applications are due by Monday, January 23. Applicants will receive a response by Tuesday, January 24. Please contact Ammar Plumber at ammarp@sas.upenn.edu with any questions.
