Fr. Tom Hagan, OSFS , is the Founder and President of Hands Together, a non-profit organization devoted to providing hope and dignity for the poorest of the poor in Haiti.

He is a Catholic priest of the order of the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales. Fr. Tom was ordained in 1969 in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and is well known for his prolific work with the inner city poor in Philadelphia and his campus ministry work at the University of Pennsylvania, Lafayette College, Moravian College and Princeton University.

In 1997 Fr. Tom left Princeton University and moved to Haiti to run Hands Together and he has been working in Port-Au-Prince ever since. He and his work were featured in the Penn Gazette in 2016 which you can read here.

At this luncheon conversation — which is part of the celebration surrounding the canonization of John Henry Newman and the 125th anniversary of the Penn Newman Center, the first of its kind in America — Fr. Hagan will reflect on the connection between John Henry Newman’s urban ministry, his own experience as a campus minister at Penn in the 1980s, and his mission to apply the principles of Catholic Social Thought in serving the people of Haiti.
