Aquinas on Happiness: An Introduction to the Summa Theologiae

During this 4-part introductory survey, students will have an opportunity to wade into what is unarguably one of the masterworks of the Catholic philosophical and theological tradition — that is, the Summa Theologiae of St. Thomas Aquinas. This thirteenth-century compilation is the textual icon of what became known as the “Medieval Christian Synthesis” of faith and reason. With the support of visiting Dominican friars, students will have the opportunity both to grapple with the basic analytical structure of Aquinas’s method and to focus on how he deploys that method to address one of the central questions of human life ~~ happiness.

Dates & Time: Thursdays, June 30 - July 21, 5:00-6:00 pm ET

Location: University City or Zoom

This hybrid seminar is only open to University City area students.
