Christian Thoughts-in-Progress

Graduate students are invited to join us for Christian Thoughts-in-Progress, a new series designed for graduate students seeking to integrate their Christian faith with their academic pursuits. The program offers a supportive community for scholars seeking growth in their vocation as integrated Christian thinkers who are making a legitimate contribution to the academy as well as to the church and the common good. Each session will feature a brief presentation from a graduate student member of our community. The presenter will highlight ways in which they see their work attempting to make a contribution to their discipline and the Christian community at large.

Our second session of the fall semester on Friday, October 31 will feature Mica Udani, PhD Candidate in Political Science at the University of Pennsylvania researching international relations, human rights, political economy, and migration. Her dissertation, “Systematizing the Kafala System”, which she successfully defended last month, examines the complex political and social institutions of international labor migration, including the drivers of global labor migration, the risks of prejudice and abuse, and the rights and protections of vulnerable migrants in authoritarian rentier states in the Middle East. Her broader work in international development and humanitarian aid includes program development on climate change and anti-human trafficking initiatives. She holds an MA in Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania and has six years of teaching experience at the both undergraduate and graduate levels, focusing on translating research and theory into practical, ethical insights for professionals in global business.
