On Reading: Books and the Good Life (Food for Thought Module IV)

How are our cultural habits of reading changing as our textual mediums become increasingly digital? While we have a great wealth of information more easily available to us than ever, we seem to be losing our interest in (or perhaps even capacity for) engaging more than a few paragraphs of text. Are we also losing our ability to read deeply? Why should this matter?

Join Collegium Institute for this fourth module of Food for Thought beginning on Wednesday, January 25. In this series, we will consider the significance of reading. We will think about different ways of reading, asking what it means to read well and why we should bother to read at all.

Dates: Wednesdays, January 25, February 1, February 8

Time: Dinner is available at 5:45pm, with discussion running from 6:00 PM–7:00 PM.

Location: Seminar Room M20, Harrison College House, University of Pennsylvania

Registration: This program is open to all current undergraduate students at the University of Pennsylvania and Drexel University. To RSVP, please complete the form below, using your university-affiliated email address. If you are a Drexel University student, we ask that you RSVP at least 2 days in advance if possible since we will need to request that you be added to Harrison College House’s access list.
